When choosing someone to complete your conveyancing, it is important to know that there are two different organisations who can complete your conveyancing. These are conveyancing solicitors and licensed conveyancers.

Conveyancing solicitors specialise in transactions for the sale and purchase of properties, and may be part of a law firm that does a variety of legal work, or is a specialist conveyancing firm, concentrating on residential conveyancing.

Conveyancing solicitors are regulated by the solicitors regulation authority (SRA). Some law firms are also Lexcel accredited by the
Law Society of England & Wales. The Lexcel Standard is a quality accreditation developed specifically for the Legal Sector, which is only awarded to those firms and in-house legal departments who meet the highest management and customer care standards.

Remember that your conveyancing solicitor is key to making the whole conveyancing process run smoothly. During the sale or purchase of the property your conveyancing solicitor will be constantly liaising with the conveyancing solicitor for the other party, and if they are a good communicator this will help the process along. If they are rude on the phone to you, then they are likely to treat any one else that they deal with in respect to your conveyancing matter in the same way.

Another factor to consider when choosing a conveyancing solicitor is their experience at seeing conveyancing matters through to completion. A dedicated conveyancing firm is more likely to have a team who are experienced at handling conveyancing matters and
who can deal effectively with unforeseen complications, as well as keep you updated on the progress of your conveyancing matter.
