Whenever a property is bought or sold in the UK, the process of conveyancing takes place. The person who completes this process is known as a conveyancer. Conveyancing from start to finish usually takes around 12 weeks, 6- 8 weeks up to exchange and a further 1-4 weeks for completion.

Finding a good conveyancer isn't always easy, and the best conveyancer will often not be the cheapest. Before instructing someone to act as your conveyancer it is always prudent to check out the organisation that they work for prior to instructing them to ensure that they are likely to do a good job. If the firm has a host of bad reviews online (Google the organisation name and the word 'review') then it is probably best to avoid instructing them as your conveyancer.

Always remember that your conveyancer is key to making the whole conveyancing process run smoothly. During the sale or purchase
of the property your conveyancer will be constantly liaising with the conveyancer on for the other party, and if they are a good communicated this will help the process along. If they are rude on the phone to you, then they are likely to treat any one else that they deal with in respect to your conveyancing matter in the same way.

Another factor to consider when choosing a conveyancer is their experience at seeing conveyancing matters through to completion. A dedicated conveyancing firm is more likely to have a team who are experienced at handling conveyancing matters and who can deal effectively with unforeseen complications, as well as keep you updated on the progress of your conveyancing matter.
